The BHIC was created on 1 January 2005 as the result of a merger between the State Archive in North Brabant, the regional archive Langs AA en Dommel, and the regional archive North-East Brabant. In addition, the BHIC holds the state and provincial archives of North Brabant as well as the archives and collections of more than eighty (former) local authorities and water boards situated in the north-eastern part of the province.
The archives of the Vught police and local council contain documents about the camp.
